Brockton Featured as One of Three “Success Stories” for 100 Best Communities Competition

In a previous news article, we announced that Brockton was once again named one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People by America’s Promise Alliance in 2010.  Brockton previously won the award in 2005 and 2008, and has won three out of the four times that the competition has been held! While we were recognized for our committment to mentoring, education and volunteerism, the City’s collaborative efforts between the schools, police, elected officials, youth and residents also helped us stand out as true champions.  Recently, America’s Promise Alliance made a special video exemplifying Brockton as one of the 100 Best “Success Stories” in our mission towards dropout prevention.  Brockton, MA was one of three communities chosen for this video, along with Cummings, GA and Houston, TX.  Check out the video below that takes the time to honor the community efforts with a special focus on the recent turnaround at Brockton High School.
