Brockton to Participate in Global Youth Service Day!
April 16th will be a big day for the City of Brockton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts! Service programs will be running throughout the day at various youth serving organizations.

Brockton Teen Center
The Massachusetts Promise Fellowship is once again coming to Brockton as part of its Annual ”Opportunity to Serve Day.” The day will showcase all of the amazing work done by youth across the Commonwealth with 5 service projects going on simultaneously in Boston, Brockton, Cambridge, Lynn, and Worcester. These projects were selected through a competitive RFP process, with proposals that were co-written by youth and reviewed by our Youth Board to ensure that the projects address the needs of young people in their individual communities and, above all, are fun!
The Fellowship has been invited on behalf of the Brockton Youth Council to help coordinate their Community Mural Project. This project is being held at the Brockton Teen Center on 891 Montello Street in conjunction with Artists for Humanity and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. The BYC and MPF are looking for youth ages 9-13 to help paint murals that will feature the logos of local organizations that work with Brockton youth. The youth will be paired with partners who are 16 or older to create a mural that will be designed by Artists for Humanity. If you are 16 years or older and interested in mentoring a youth at the event, please register here.
Brockton Teen Center and Boys and Girls Club
The Mural Project is just one opportunity that day with a limited number of spots. Other activities will be held at both the Boys and Girls Club on 233 Warren Avenue and the Brockton Teen Center. These projects include: collecting and organizing non-perishable food items for the Greater Boston Food Bank; collecting and sorting school supplies for Brockton’s School on Wheels; making and sending get well cards for troops; making and sending academic enrichment sheets and friendship bracelets for Brockton youth in local hospitals; clean ups surrounding neighborhood; painting the walls of the Warren Avenue club; cleaning the inside and perimeter of the Warren Avenue Club and Teen Center. Youth of any age are encouraged to participate in these projects, except for the mural project which is restricted to youth ages 9-13. (Older youth can register to mentor the younger participants).
