2010 Mayor’s Youth Summit

 The theme for the 2010 Mayor’s Youth Summit was “Transform Brockton.”  The event was held on May 15th, 2o10 at the Massasoit Conference Center.  In response to the concerns raised at the summit, it was decided that a youth council be formed under the Office of Mayor Linda M. Balzotti. The Brockton Youth Council was created in order to have a specific group of young people working to follow up with the solutions specified at the Youth Summit. At the same time, the Mayor’s Street Violence Task Force outlined recommendations for overcoming Brockton’s greatest challenges to tackling violence. Of those recommendations, the BYC began an Anti-Violence Campaign that is targeting the culture of violence in the City and the perceived violence that occurs in Brockton from nearby Massachusetts towns and cities.
