BYC Anti-Violence Campaign
Impact Statement
To create a perception within and surrounding the City of Brockton that violence will not be accepted by the Brockton Community.

Method
The BYC will have its anti-violence logo displayed across the entire City, including on businesses, youth centers, schools, and city buildings. The logo will serve as a visual expectation that Brockton Community and Business members have in committing not to serve truant (out of school youth) or those displaying acts of violence. Those who display the logo commit to reporting any violence, unsafe activity, and bullying surrounding their business or home.
Businesses will sign an intolerance of violence and truancy contract with the BYC and Mayor Balzotti’s Office. By signing this contract, they will become a partnering agency in our Anti-Violence Campaign and will display the anti-violence logo outside their residences and store shops. They will be accepting responsibility for youth, not serving those who are skipping school, showing consideration by inquiring with youth they suspect are out of school, or individuals displaying acts of violence. Failure in upholding responsibilities will result in removal of logo and recognition of membership of the Mayor’s Anti-Violence Campaign.

Current Status of the Campaign
The Anti-Violence Campaign kicked off with a Logo Contest in the Fall of 2010. Congratulations to the winners, Brooke Thorpe and Jessenia Guzman! Your work truly represented the Youth Council’s goal for their Anti-Violence Campaign.
The winning logos have been combined into one image, (pictured above),which will soon become the face of Anti-Violence initiatives within the city. It will be placed on windows, city buildings, as bumper stickers, and city billboards. The logo will serve as a universal image showing that violence will not be tolerated by members of this community. We ask all members, businesses, city officials, employers, employees, community members and groups, and young people to be a part of the campaign. There are many ways to get involved.
